About Alan Vallis:

Alan studied three dimensional design at Hornsey College of Art in London. After a short period of teaching in a secondary school, which he hated, he was accepted as a technical instructor at the Royal College of Art. During this five-year period he became increasingly enthusiastic about the process of jewellery making which he had nurtured whilst at Hornsey. As a consequence he further developed an interested in the ancient art and history of lost wax casting and began applying these techniques to his work.

It would seem that the Corona Virus will be with us for some time but with care and caution we can live with it. I am still based at my Oxo workshop although less frequently. So if you wish to view some of my work or make a commission then please contact me by: eMail or phone. Details below.

Vocation & current workshop:

He went on to lecture, at the London Guildhall University (or Sir John Cass as it was then called) and the West Surrey College of Art and Design on the history and application of this process. Together with a hands-on approach, Alan covered the essential skills necessary for lost wax casting; outlining and emphasising the importance of its appropriate use.
